Reset Password

Step 1. Attach a terminal or PC to the console port of the UC500 Series Device.

Step 2. Use the power switch in order to turn off the UC500 device, then turn the device back on.

Step 3. Immediately begin to repeatedly press the break sequence, in most scenarios this is CTRL+Break, for the device in order to boot the device into ROMMON mode.

Step 4. Enter confreg 0x2142 at the rommon 1> prompt. This step bypasses the startup config where the passwords are stored at next boot up.

Note: rommon — It is a Rom on mode is a default configuration mode to reset device to its factory default settings

Step 5. Enter reset at the rommon 2> prompt. The UC500 reboots but ignores the saved configuration.

Step 6. When the UC500 returns from the reset, enter No if asked to enter the initial configuration dialog.

Step 7. Enter enable to enter the privileged mode of the UC500 device.

Step 8. Enter copy startup-config running-config to save the configuration once again. This command saves the start up configuration data to the non-volatile RAM where the running configuration data is stored.

Step 9. Enter configure terminal to enter the global configuration mode of the UC500 device.

Step 10. Enter the new password. The following commands instruct how to change the different login information on the device.

• To enable the password enter enable secret. This encrypts the password, it will be visible as the encrypted version of the original password in the running configuration.

• To device Access Password enter username secret.

Step 11. Reset the configuration register to its previous value by entering config-register 0x2102 in the configuration mode of the UC500 device.

Step 12. Save these changes with the use of the write memory command.
